So what's available for my railroad, anyway?
I have compiled a list of available products in 1:29 scale from Aristo-Craft and USA Trains. The lists are limited to products that are painted for the Great Northern Railway and related railraod names that, through mergers, became what is today, the Burlington Northern SantaFe Railroad. These list include the following roads: GN, CB&Q, NP, SP&S, BN, Frisco, SF and BNSF, though not all roads wll have entries. If you have anythng to add, please let me know. Just click on the button (to the left) for the list you want to check.

I will try to keep these lists up-to-date as I learn about new releases and discover previously unknown products.
Currently undergoing complete reconstruction.

The plan calls for a two 600'  mainlines with sidings and indusries all along the route, bridges, tressels, rivers, canyons and lakes with landscaping to give the casual viewer a  feeling of watching trains in the Pacific Northwest, even in the heat of summer.

I decided to approach my layout design as I would if I was building a conventional indoor model railroad. The difference being that this railroad nearly fills my 8000 square foot backyard.

The plan was  drawn using a RR-Track 3.0  at a scale of 1'=1'.
This is a look at my Great Northern Pacific Garden Railway.

You may recognize one distinctive element I have incorporated in my layout, It is called 'The Timesaver' switching layout. John Allen designed this piece of trackwork as a switching puzzle for all of us model railroaders to use to improve our operating skills. I have it in my layout because it provides for some fun play time. Click n the link to get two versions I came up with for large scale trains
